hadcaraccident.com - Motorbike Accidents

While your insurance company will cover the cost of repairs to your bike in the event of a car accident, few companies offer any security should you suffer a personal injury that was not your fault. The result could be that you are left out of pocket due to having to take time off work, or an accident hindering you in other aspects of your everyday life.

If you have suffered a genuine injury from an accident that was not your fault, you have a right to claim compensation. After all, your claim could prevent others suffering in similar types of accidents.

If you’ve had a bike accident
If you've been involved in a bike accident you must report it to the police within 24 hours. It is an offence for another driver to refuse to give details following an accident. You must also contact your insurance company of the accident as soon as possible. In order to assist your claim, insurance company and the police it is important you gather as much information you can about the accident.

Ideally this should be done at the time of the accident, however due to factors such as shock or emotional upset this may not be possible. You may find it helpful to return to the scene of the accident to jog your memory and record as many details as possible.

At the time of the incident if helpful to note the following:

  • Date and time of the accident

  • Vehicle details such as Make, Model, Registration number, Colour and if the vehicle had any modifications, for example, tinted windows, body kit etc.

  • Contact details of the drivers, passengers and pedestrians involved, where applicable. Also try and remember the driver’s physical appearance plus any distinguishing features.

  • Weather, Visibility and lighting conditions
  • The damage done to each vehicle involved
  • The injuries sustained by anyone involved
  • If you have a camera then take photos of the scene

Upon returning to the scene of the accident note:

  • A description of the accident and order of events, taking into account the vehicles positioning, any obstructions to the road/vehicles or any signs or signals (it may help if you sketch these out)

  • Estimated speed
  • Type and condition of the road
  • Whether the vehicles were using headlights or indicators
